Muhure Eyesus monastery is found in Gurage zone muhure Aklile werda. It is found 485kms from Hawassa & 190 k.m from Addis Ababa and 55k.m from the center of wolkite via Agena –Butajira road. Abune Zena Markos established the monastery in 1250 E.C visitors can arrive at monastery by regular transportation or 4 wheel  drive  car, The church compound can be found at the left side of the main road 4k.m distance.

Fortunately some of the priceless treasures muhure Eyesus monastery is housed in a formally established museum so that relics have enjoyed better protection, preservation and exhibition. The museums easily identifiable being found at left-hand side after entering the first gate within the first compound of the church, the museum is enclosed by a fence wall that separates it from abune zena-markos church.
