Moora: Cultural space of Konso located at the center of the main central enclosure and at different locations within the walls, and sometimes outside the walls. Paths from all gates lead to these Mooras. The individual walled town locally known as, Paletta has up to 17 Mooras, which are connected to one other by footpaths. The Mooras retain an important and central role in the life of the Konso. They usually have one or two-story grass thatched houses, called Pafta. The Moora comprise an open sided sitting area beneath a huge thatched roof with a heavy wooden ceiling and above the ceiling there is therefore an; ittic‟ the ground floor of the Mora is expertly paved to form a public area where the men gather to govern the village life. It is also a place for recreation, the youth may gather here to play chat and relax during the day when they are not working. The attic of the Moora meanwhile is where all the adult men are obliged to slip at night. They have a responsibility to protect the villages from various an expected incidences such as fire and any other attack. 

Dubusha is also  a place where conflicts are resolved. Those who act against the rules and regulation of the community are punished. If one refuses to be punished, members of the society will isolate him or her with a decision made at the dubusha. Problems of those who are in need of help from the community are also made public in this pace.

Every Thursday people convene at the local court, Songgo. The people come to the songgo with various purposes; some people come as witness, to attend and hear mediation and arbitration in the court or to present its cases to the court to seek solution. The mediators are the heiyu or hayicha forms the council of elders in the songgo. According to the council of elders they have been free services to the people. In the Songgo cases such as dispute over farm land, family disputes, dispute between individuals over payment of loans which was given in the absence of a witness and a number of such cases have been presented to the court and decided by the council of elders. As elders maintain the local court are very effective especially in cases which have been done secretly or done in the absence of a witness. Even today, in the presences of modern institutions like the police, court, and kebele, district administrators, the Songgos have been continued playing its traditional roles of mediation.The songgo is open for all to attend cases, dialogues, mediations, witness and decisions passed by the heiyu/hayicha.

Gurage houses have a unique traditional administrative law known as yejoka kicha, which is formulated by agreement and oath of the people. Yejoka is the meeting place that is marked by two aged cedar trees in Cheha district and kicha means law. The practice of this customary law has passed from generation to generation with special amendments made over time. This customary law covers most social animosities, crimes and negotiations as well as suitable punishments depending on crimes.The law has five subsections; the first degree criminal cases and punishments are kwon as Yeddem kicha; killing and crippling humans is known as  Yemmura kicha; marital and divorce laws known as Yeankit kicha; the law which treats boundary disputes are known as Yekkeye kicha, and laws about proper usage of public land is kwon as Yejjefero kicha.

The law is respected and obeyed by every members of the Gurage community. In each village there are elders who are responsible for negotiating disputes accordingly and the annual meeting of the council of elders is held at Yejoka.
